Art can be judged on how engaging it is and how long someone can look at without getting bored. When I am creating a new project I often find myself thinking about how I can make my piece more entertaining or complex. My favorite works are the ones in which I can look at a million times and still see it differently every time, or see another part of what I have created and gain a deeper level of appreciation for my attention to detail. Although clay is a rigid and solid medium, I strive to create works that appear fluid, light, and natural. I create art because I love the satisfaction of completing something that I am proud of, and art serves as an escape from stress and instantly relaxes me, lastly I create art because I love the process of creating and getting messy. Art also allows me to reach a level of focus so that 6 hours can pass like ten minutes, during this time I am so relaxed and stress-free, it’s kinda like meditation because my mind feels clear but I am still creating complex designs. Ceramics is by far my favorite medium because it allows me to create something that people and touch and feel instead of something flat.
