Artist Reflections
Take a look at the following artists and type a reflection on your thoughts about the artist. Remember that this it should not be a summary of their work since I am already familiar with these artists. I am much more interested in your reaction and experience with their work. I expect you to watch the video and click on the link but also will encourage you to do your own Google search of their work. Furthermore, insert an image of your favorite piece or pieces into the email so I can get a feel for what you connect with. Each entry should be around 1 page typed, single spaced.
Writing a Formal Critique
Write a four paragraph essay in this order:
1. Describe the art completely (as if I have never seen it before and use the art elements list) 2. Identify 3 art principles (take a look at the list and describe how the artist is using 3 art principles) 3. Analyze the meaning/feelings (However you feel about the work is valid, just explain why you feel that way) 4. Judge it (like it?Don't? Why?) |

Take notice of how you FEEL while looking at her art and watching the videos. As you take notice how you body is reacting, record your thoughts and feelings. This will help you with the artist refection. What you are feeling, thinking, and processing is an important part of viewing any art. Then you can ask yourself what is creating those thoughts and feelings. What are you really reacting to.
