As time allows, rich creative collage art can be made from some of the prints done in this class. All materials will be provided but to personalize your work, you are welcome to bring any favorite materials for use in mark making on plates and for collage. Teacher: Patrice Kelly November 6, 2019, 12:30 to 3:00 Wet felting wool is a centuries old craft used to make everything from tents to clothing. The process combines layers of wool roving into one flat piece of felt fabric. After learning a brief history of different types of felting and roving, participants create an original felted bird species. Felting birds is a tactile and engaging experience. Teachers will gain insight and inspiration to share with students of all ages and abilities. The process will promote creativity, imagination, and excite teachers to explore this unique art form.
Last dept meeting at Greg's barn was a hit. We will now hold all meetings at his house!
Also sent this info via email. What a day at the MFA! It is always rewarding, stimulating, and for filling to spend an entire day with the art department. We were guided by the head of school programs and we wandered through the galleries pausing to discuss different ways in which we viewed the work. Our wonderful guide, Emily, engaged us in many different and thoughtful ways in which to talk about art through different lenses with our students. But what fun it was to listen to each other as we explored the art ourselves. Using art elements and principles cards, sketching, poems, VTS, & group brainstorming, we were able to connect with each other and think about our classrooms and students in new and exciting ways. The discussion around how we teach and why we teach this way was rich and lead to a reexamination of my own teaching. Thank you colleagues and MFA! I left energized and excited to try some new things with my students. Teachers were back at the Lesley STEAM LAB for a full day of PD this time!
