HELLO CERAMICISTS!!
As third term comes to an end, it is important to look at the incredible progress that has been made in a short time. Wheel throwing and sculpting are difficult skills to learn and it takes hours of practice to make a piece of art. Furthermore, the act of throwing or sculpting an object is only one step in a line of processes needed to accomplish the project. There is a balancing act that consists of tooling your foot, possibly pulling and attaching handles or spouts, carving texture, throwing a lid, and, of course, decorating and glazing. To be a successful ceramicist, you need to be able to juggle many things for one project to come together. Knowing this process, allows the artist or views a true appreciation of the work! The students are doing a wonderful job problem solving and growing as artist. Please enjoy these pictures from the classroom!
