Artist Statement
I have always thought of myself as an artistic person, I like the creativeness of art. I find art to be calming and a good source of stress relief. Drawing is my favorite way to be creative and I always use graphic pencils. My three favorite things to draw are flowers, people and hummingbirds. My preferred place to draw is in my bed when I am alone, this way I am comfortable and focused.
I have been drawing since I was three years old, its always been a source of enjoyment for me. I took few art classes when I was in elementary school as a fun way to pass the summer. I have had the opportunity to use different mediums in art and I feel painting is messy and that takes away the enjoyment for me, and with scultiping I have never made anything that has has meaning to me like my drawings do.
I have my own personal sketchbook and when I am in the mood to draw I sit and see what I feel like doing. Sometimes I am very structured in my approach and I have a plan of what I want to draw and once I start I see what develops. Once in a while I have no plan and just start drawing whatever comes to me. I have not shared my drawing with many people, mostly just my mother.
