At the end of last year, the HEF funded a wonderful and generous grant for the art room to get a pugmill. Any studio space this large with 85 ceramicist a day needs a powerful machine to help recycle and mix the used clay into a usable substance. Take a look at the time lapse video to see it in action. BIG THANKS TO THE HEF FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND GENEROSITY!!!!

As you can see, students are busy working on their art. But it hasn't come easy. They are working hard each day practicing their throwing skills in order to create beautiful and meaningful pieces. Yesterday, a student suggested that we make an Instagram account to post pictures of great stuff happening in the studio...many students were excited by the idea and now you can join us at Hingham_pottery where there will be posts daily. Lots happening this week int he studio! With both mugs finished, students started to glaze and learned about the difference between glaze and underglaze, pouring and dipping and brushing. Some also learned the dangers of wax resist! The kiln was loaded today...stay tuned for the finished product! |
