The potters have finished their first set of functional stoneware. Everyone will be taking their mugs home this week and they are food safe, dishwasher safe and microwavable! Please scroll through the gallery of images below and help us celebrate the students accomplishments. Wheel throwing is an extremely difficult skill to learn and takes hours of practice to make one artwork. Furthermore, the act of throwing an object is only one step in a line of processes needed to accomplish a project. There is a balancing act that consists of tooling a foot, possibly pulling and attaching handles or spouts, carving texture, throwing a lid, and, of course, decorating and glazing. To be a successful potter, you need to be able to juggle many things for one project to come together and these students put in countless hours to manage these tasks well, often after school. Are you interested in trying it?!?! We are hosting a parent night on November 17 from 6-8. You can sign up and throw with us. Limited to the first 15 parents to sign up with Poogs. Send an email to [email protected] with your name, your student's name and contact information. Email me with any questions and leave your comments below for the artist!
